in progress
James Mason | SE @ Huntress
We have started open beta for Linux EDR!
What that means is:
- anyone can participate
- its free
- we have expanded supported distros
- additional agent installation using Ansible
For installation support and other details please see the “Linux Open BETA Prep List” support document on support.huntress.io or reach out to your CAM.

I got the beta installed on my Fedora 42 workstation for about a week. The installation was a bit of a challenge as the provided script didn't work to download a binary and had to be modified as follow:
#status_code=$(wget -S -pO "${HUNTRESS_PKG}" "${PORTAL_URL}/download/linux/${ACCOUNT_KEY}?arch=${ARCH}" 2>&1 \
status_code=$(wget -S -O "${HUNTRESS_PKG}" "${PORTAL_URL}/download/linux/${ACCOUNT_KEY}?arch=${ARCH}" 2>&1 \
Post-installation the agent is collecting some data, but not a lot. The kernel version is only reported in Major.Minor format (no sub-minors i.e. 6.15 vs. 6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64). The built-in firewall is not recognized/reported. No monitored files.
Overall it's a good start, but ways to go to get on-par with Windows agent IMHO.
Thank you.

Arkadiy Chapkis: Hi Arkadiy, thank you for your feedback! We appreciate getting information on what does not work and what kind of improvements are needed.
We are currently working on adding new capabilities to Linux agent, more to come!
May I ask you to open a support ticket next time, its easier for us to track down issues and suggestions?
Thanks once again!

Nenad Kreculj Hi Nenad, sure, I will do so. One thing I wasn't clear about is if the agent updates can be pushed from the EDR console (or even if they can be auto-updated).

Arkadiy Chapkis thanks!
Regarding updates, agent updates happen automatically - just like for Windows or macOS

Nenad Kreculj This is great news! We started with the Early Access and now with the Beta. So far so good!

Linux Support for Huntress

I am interested in using Huntress on Linux systems. It would be beneficial if Huntress could support Linux, as this is a popular request among users. Implementing Linux support would expand the usability of Huntress across different operating systems.

Can we bump this one into the next Qtr? or if we can be part of the beta trial

Would be interested in looking at the beta for this. We will be moving one of our critical internal applications to a Linux box in June or July.

Our Client base is mostly MACOS and Windows but we deploy a site device using Linux for site monitoring and data collection

with VMware pushing away from SMB, there are a lot of companies back to linux (HPE VME is Ubuntu, Nutanix is CentOS / RHEL, etc) and having a linux agent for those servers will be crucial with all of these migrations.
