Content request - Lending unauthorized users a corporate asset

A training on the dangers of lending your work asset to unauthorized users or children would be fantastic. There's been a rise of customers just handing their work computers to their kids so they can play Roblox or Minecraft and they cause all sorts of EDR detections because they don't know how to legitimately download things.

+1,
Most employees don't understand the risks of allowing unauthorized parties access to their corporate asset.
Whether it be letting a family member use it to play games or do other things, Sometimes things do end up getting put on the machine which are legitimate security concerns and ultimately that asset is the responsibility of the employee it's assigned to.
Nothing like having your 11 year old download sketchy GTA mods to compromise your work computer!

Cody Arnold TJ Caldwell - I get that the pain is real. We tried to cover the underlying issue of end users having overly elevated privileges in the elevated privileges episode and to teach why that is dangerous. However, I understand that this isn't possible for all clients in the real world. (Especially with execs who are exactly who shouldn't be installing software.)
I'll keep an eye on this submission for upvotes and will discuss it with the team.
In the meantime, I leave you with my favorite T-shirt from IT Nation Connect 2025.

Following op on this thread after some DMs and internal conversations:
Rather than making a whole episode about allowing kids to install software on your work computer, we're going to do a larger episode about the risks of using a work device for personal use.
This will cover:
- How this creates risk and potential liability for your employer (eg - installing a video game that has a back door and leaks company secrets)
- Risk to you and your employment (eg - you getting into trouble)
- Potential privacy and intellectual property issues
We'll keep on thinking about this but I've added it to the episode roadmap and are open to more ideas!
